Gracie turned 1 last week!! It has gone so fast I can hardly believe it. As a tribute to my Princess I decided to make her a Rapunzel fairytale castle cake. And here it is in all its glory.
Just one or two points to mention.
As we can clearly establish, I am shit at making cakes. It does not look like the one in the book.
While the children all said "Wow..a castle cake" my girlfriends came in giggling and saying: "wow..a cake shaped like lots of man bits with some lady bits on the top."
I wont put the words on here or lord knows who might get to my blog via google.
As I was making the cake I started to realise that the castle does resemble a certain part of a mans body...on closer inspection it actually looks quite realistic as the weight of the icing meant it looked a bit wrinkly. It really made me giggle making it (or maybe that was the glasses of wine I had while doing it)
I also bought the wrong sized marshmallows so had to just work with what I had. Even though the turrets looked a bit like certain lady bits.
Anyway..its a shining example of how to make a cake NotQuiteSuperMom style.

Your cake is GREAT! Made me laugh! I do agree on the resemblance but hey you tried! Looking forward to seeing your next effort!
I think your cake looks fantastic! You're a lot braver than I. I don't even attempt to sculpt I simply draw in icing! Though I will admit the resemblence is quite obviously to us grown ups at least none of the children made that connection! Ah, the sheer innocence of the young, eh? :>
LOL!!!
Enjoyed reading your blog. The cake looks good! lol Keep up the good work! Clicked some ads for you.

I'm so glad I took the time to click on the link you sent to netmums....I have been PMSL at your fantastic cake.
I found myself giggling as well, but hey, as long as the kiddies didn't catch on, you're alright. Besides, it's still way better than I could have done.
